In 2022, Luana Savings Bank donated 36 computers along with dozens of monitors, printers, scanners, and other equipment to local non-profit organizations with a combined replacement value of over $36,000. Luana Savings Bank didn't just stop there, though: Bank employees assisted several of the recipients in setting up the equipment and configurations as well. "Whereas other entities might only cut checks for donations, Luana Savings Bank shares a bit of our expertise as well", says IT Manager Grant Langhus. "Although some of the computer equipment we donate is used, we spend time cleaning, testing and re-certifying it; installing new, faster components; and if the organization wishes we'll even pre-install Windows and other software, just as if the computer were brand new."
Equipment with a total replacement value well-exceeding $100,000 has been donated since Luana Savings Bank started tracking such activity in 2017. Langhus adds this is not only a good way to keep electronics out of our landfills, but to also help local cities, emergency responders, libraries, and schools throughout Iowa as well. "Without our IT donations, some school programs offering real-world educational opportunities would struggle to exist" he further quotes. "We're very proud of our IT donation program and will only continue to expand its reach".
Luana Savings Bank is continually looking for additional non-profit organizations to donate computer equipment to. To learn more, please Contact Us Regarding IT Donations.
